As a psychologist working in Child & Adolescent Mental Health (CAMHS) in the UK, I am supremely grateful for the resources Eva provides for parents of young people with eating disorders, especially the Bitesize pieces. These little audios are so supportive for parents who are navigating strange and very scary waters. Thank you, Eva!

Eva Musbys information is the absolute Gold for understanding the disease and the steps to help our child overcome it in a kind compassionate and connected to him and all he is going through way.
If we had not been referred to her website and these techniques our only other option would be the devastation of going into the hospital system.
So very grateful to her and all the advise tools and techniques to help our son to battle this horrific voice in his head at home with his family who now at last understand

Bitesize Eva has been brilliant! I found it difficult to focus on what I really needed to learn about my daughters illness from reading Eva's book (which is also brilliant btw). Travelling to and from hospital to visit my daughter, going to and from work, keeping on top of the shopping, dog walking and all the other daily demands meant finding time to read the book nigh on impossible. The solution for me was to download all the Bitesize clips into iTunes and I could listen in the car, in the kitchen, on my headphones while walking the dog or in the shops. When I heard something I wanted to follow up in the book, I made a note on my phone and I could then do a deep dive if I managed to find some quiet time later. Eva deserves a medal for all the hard work she's put in to helping parent, and I think it's fair to say that her work has been a real-life saver. Thank you.

  3. Parent of a young adult with anorexia

Your help & resources were invaluable as a really quick way for us to take action in the early days when we were in crisis.

I’ve now had time to read up and understand why FBT works and is so crucial to recovery.

I’m so grateful for your resources, your kind & compassionate approach and all your practical examples of how to talk to our daughter, how to think of her eating disorder, and what to do on a daily basis to support her through the most difficult time.

I don’t think we’d be where we are now had we not been able to listen to your bitesize audio.

Eva’s Bitesize is a very different resource to the usual academic texts and is rooted in the compassion and love that a parent or caregiver has for their child suffering with an eating disorder.

Whether you are a parent or clinician, you want the information that you need, when you most need it. So the audio clips help me to feel more assured and confident, as they are always available to me in my pocket for when I may only have minutes to search and recap on any clinical issue that I’m working with.

In addition to the wealth of information in there, the Bitesize search function is invaluable for when time is limited and you just need jargon-free advice and ideas to share with families. As most families may only receive an hour or so of a clinician’s time in any one week, signposting families to relevant audio clips helps to empower them. The information is at parents' fingertips to guide them to take the most appropriate action for their situation. It helps parents to harness their skills in compassionate persistence, to contain their child’s anxieties and perhaps most importantly to gain their trust in the very necessary process of recovery from their eating disorder.

From despair yesterday to then being referred to your resources. I now feel I can tackle this.

You have armed me with confidence and sufficient knowledge to get by for now. I cannot say how much better I now feel.

I have already had some success with getting breakfast cereal down today. Lots of tears but the prompts on repeatedly passing her the spoon worked really well. Your voice was very much in my head from the audios as I told my daughter she could trust me

  6. Hannah

Simply answered all my questions, made me realise that I’m not alone or a useless and ignorant parent! But now I’m educated and armed with empathy and understanding. Thank you.

  7. Bee

So very helpful!! Easier to take in a bit at a time than a long podcast all at once.

  8. Suzy

Yesterday on the way to my daughter's school to supervise her lunch I listened to your one of the audios.
When I saw her I used your words to show empathy for the anxious feelings I witnessed that morning. She instantly relaxed and her spirit felt lighter.

Bitesize is beautifully catalogued, so all the questions and words of reassurance we need to there and are easy to find, and a couple of minutes of listening is often all we have the capacity to take in when dealing with our own emotions.

Waiting to see the doctor / psychologist / specialist to get the right advice is just not feasible most of the time. And searching on online forums can create more anxiety and be unhelpful and discouraging.

Your work is incredible and needs to be spread far and wide. I wish the eating disorder unit at hospital displayed your book or had a library with your book when my daughter was hospitalised. When you are early in your ED support journey you need to hear words like yours, your perspective and your empathy.

I wish every support parent was given the gift of your books and audios. Our psychologist recommended your website after seeing us regress, 8 months into our ED journey. It has been a salve for both my husband and I, and we really appreciated the compassionate approach as I know my daughter does too.

If youre looking for knowledge, clarity and wanting to help your child combat the eating disorder, you must listen to the audio clips in bitesize! To listen to actual real life scenarios and finally get the answers youve been looking for is a godsend. YOU must do the work as a parent to save your child. Its so simple to just listen and learn. Eva teaches us exactly what to do to find your power as a parent. I found her explanations tone of voice and perspectives fascinating. Ive stopped crying every day and feel more calm and in control of my own emotions. It also helped my husband finally understand that this disorder is only beaten by compassionate persistence. We are on the same page now and work as a team! Thank you Eva!!!

They are beautifully put together and the content is so very helpful at this time.

    Eva, thank you.
Your book has been my bible for the past year and I have now discovered Bitesize. Perfect for listening to in the car. Your advice and guidance is just what I need. I have two daughters. One has had Binge Eating disorder for about 4 years and the other with anorexia who, in the past year, has been in hospital for around 6 months. I have them both at home now. I have been so overwhelmed by my daughters’ illnesses, i became an emotional wreck. With your help, I’m getting stronger. I am able to support my daughters with their battles and not feel utterly useless. I know we will win. Thank you Eva.

Thank you for this resource – useful time and time again 🙂

  13. Anonymous

A truly outstanding resource especially if you're time poor or a slow reader like me! Crucial topics covered in short, practical bites. They follow a logical sequence that can be listened to en bloc or you can enter a key word to find a top tip for the issue of the day. Quick and easy to navigate once you get the hang of it. Thank you so much Eva Musby!

  14. Lou

Eva’s Bitesize audios are informative and just the right thing for when you aren’t always able to sit down and read. I thoroughly recommend these wonderful bursts of information that have helped me help my child and myself. Eva your calming voice is like a warm hug. You are amazing.

  15. R

I'm finding the bite size clips really useful and would definitely recommend. They are a perfect length for dipping in and out of on a short car journey, or easy to listen to back-to-back on a long dog-walk. I initially listened to lots in one go and now find that I'm using the search function to go back to listen to specifics. Thank you for making these available.

Eva Musby’s Bitesize audio collection were a lifeline for me as a parent caring for a child with an eating disorder. They are a brilliant accompaniment to her book, as hearing the examples really brings them to life, helping me to communicate and support my child more effectively. Being able to search by topic means that I can quickly access support from these audios when I need it in short, manageable chunks. This is especially useful when I don’t have time or concentration to read text, which is often in our current situation. I have access to the audio on multiple devices, so I can listen with earphones whilst doing other tasks like cooking. These audios helped us when we needed it most. I can’t thank you enough Eva.

    Hi Eva
I just wanted to say how much your audio bitesize collection has helped myself and my newly diagnosed 11 year old son who has Anorexia .
He spent 6 weeks in hospital being badly malnourished with a low heart rate . The hospital put him on a feeding tube , then a large meal plan and then sent him home . Week 3 at home and yes some struggles with particular foods that he doesn’t like eating but no big issues until this morning when he refused any food whatsoever. I was lucky enough to buy your audio (as the book hasn’t arrived via post I’m in Australia )

I have listened for weeks while walking the dog and was able to use your information and put it into play . It worked all the compassion, holding hands , touch and hug he began to eat and really only took about 10 minutes .

So Thank you !!!! So much for sharing your journey . I really do not think anything would of worked .

  18. Mlx

In addition to the book, these audios made it 'click' for me, I understand more about what needs to be done and how to do it. Especially using the bond of love between parent-child as main starting point for all interventions. The suggestions for communication (for example what to say to my child when she has an angry meltdown) helps me too.
I also find it comforting to listen to Eva's voice, sounding so calm and reassuring. Thank you Eva for this help and guidance.
To other parents, carers I wish you and your child well.

  19. S

I have listened to all of these at least once – many of them two or three times – and they are extremely helpful. Eva's calming voice, practical approach, compassion, and empathy are very reassuring. Sometimes I'll listen to a random audio clip – regardless of the topic – just to hear a calming voice. And in situations with my child at the table, I have often caught myself about to say something when I remember a better way to approach the situation from one of Eva's concrete examples. These little audios are a portable "voice of reason."

  20. Anon

These are great. Easy to listen to. Very easy to find info using the search function. Short and to the point, which is just what’s needed in the first couple of weeks when it’s all a bit overwhelming.

  21. Anonymous

These are an excellent resource. We don’t always have time to sit and read on this journey so small chunks of information on how to support our daughter whilst we are walking or driving really help!

  22. Mel

I have bought and downloaded your Bitesize podcasts. I bought your book although I’m too tired to pick this up at night , so the podcasts are perfect for when I’m ironing or walking the dog.
I have picked up lots of tips and I do believe the reason I failed over the last 3 months is I wasn’t strong enough and didn’t Fully understand the illness.
Yesterday was a good day, my daughter who eats the same food everyday since June last year asked to try porridge for a change. I wanted to cry .

The bungee jump and kidnapper has stayed with me and I relate back to that in most scenarios. Thank you

  23. Angela

The BiteSize Audios are absolutely brilliant and have become my dog walk playlist, which is often in tears when I hear Eva speaking so compassionately and eloquently describing scenarios that we are currently facing. Eva talks about us walking side by side with our child as they walk through hell; it feels like she is there with us, giving sensible, supportive advice and for this I cannot thank her enough.

  24. Annies

Eva, I must just tell you that I've discovered your bite size audio clips- they're absolutely brilliant, you talk an incredible amount of sense. After a long day with my daughter, they're just about all I can manage. These, combined with revisiting your book, will, I'm sure, be powerful tools. Only this morning I managed to put something into practice which helped to deescalate tensions with my very distressed daughter, enabling her to face eating her breakfast. So thank you, and thank you, again.
