Grow stronger – Tools for your own wellbeing
$40.00
Description
The date is really a placeholder. Let me know if you're interested in this workshop, and your time zone, and when I have more than half a dozen people I'll propose a date. Meanwhile, it's all in Chapter 15 of my book, and a whole section in my Bitesize audio collection.
Out of all the workshops I offer, this is the one that has the fewest signups, so I thought I'd do it this way. I do like to keep making this topic available, because as the saying goes, we need that oxygen mask before we can help others.ย ย
The price is flexible: see below
Why this workshop?
For the title of this session, I have played with words like "resilience", and "for your child's sake", "coping", "surviving", and even "thriving" and "wisdom". Why? Because I am pretty sure that almost all parents struggle with their own wellbeing, yet many book onto every workshop except this one.
- When we are barely coping we protect ourselves from getting even more hurt. If that's you, I want to assure you I take great care to guard against that. Alsoย you can leave any time and get a refund.
- Taking care of ourselves is way down our priorities. Yet it makes us stronger, more courageous, more able to be both compassionate and persistent with our children. It also gives them a model of how to be well.
- We imagine that self-care means obvious stuff that we don't have time for, like bubble baths. How irritating! I will introduce you to psychological tools that take no time.
As parents we have a huge role to play in our child's eating disorder treatment. It's demanding and it's emotional and stretches us in ways we've never had to cope with before. We get told to 'take care of ourselves' but that's so vague it makes some of us feel so alone. We don't have the time or energy to do what used to nourish us. Yet we know that we have to find ways of being well, because our children need us, and also because we are modelling for them what good living can be like. I researched resources for resilience and emotional wellbeing when I was in this situation, then some more when writing Chapter 15 of my book. They are based in psychology, traditional wisdoms, personal experience and what has helped other parents. The aim of this workshop is to bring some of these resources to life as I describe them and demonstrate them, so that you can perhaps experience some immediate wellbeing and see what you might enjoy using on a regular basis.
This is for YOU, but your child will benefit too
This is not a therapy group — I am not a therapist. This particular workshop isn't about how you can help your child (I propose other workshops for that), it's about you. Having said that, when you experience how a tool can help you, you may well find you can guide your child to use it too.
Content of the workshop
We have one and half hour to explore wellbeing tools you might not be familiar with
- First, brief introductions to make you feel welcome and connected to everyone — feeling you're with like-minded souls is a benefit of groups .
- I take you through some of the most powerful tools, which I have seen parents find most helpful.
- And I invite interaction so that everyone can learn and be nourished by our joint wisdoms.
Who is it for?
This is for people who support someone with an eating disorder. As this is about your own wellbeing, this workshop should be applicable to you, whatever the type of eating disorder. My field of knowledge is mostly around children/teens with anorexia or similar.
Clinicians are welcome. Just contact me after you booked, so that when the workshop starts I can check with parents in case anyone has an objection. Parents, if you are worried about a clinician you know being there, you are welcome to check with me ahead of time.
Do you need more skills?
Sometimes our wellbeing suffers because we're lost, confused, we just don't know how to help our child. If this is you, take a look at my other workshops to complement this one.
It's all here. And in particular:
Don't let money be an obstacle
Although a price (in your preferred currency) is displayed for this workshop, you can use a coupon at checkout to get whatever reduction you may need. Details here.
Limitations of the workshop
The workshop aims to expand your toolbox, not to tell you what to do, which could be dangerous. Check everything with your clinicians. More here.
To keep everyone comfortable, safe and private
We don't record, for the sake of your privacy, and your child's privacy. More here.
I very much hope you will be comfortable having your video ON, knowing there is no recording and you're in good company. When we can see people's faces we feel the warmth of connection… and it also helps me steer the workshop in ways most useful to you all.
Joining with Zoom
When you've gone through the checkout you will see a confirmation screen giving you the zoom link as Join Meeting. I propose you keep hold of it right away. You can also click to add the date to your calendar, and the zoom link will be included. You will also receive an email with the date and zoom link (Join Meeting). More on how we will use Zoom: here.
Cancellations and refunds
I know things can be unpredictable. If you can't attend a workshop you booked, contact me, and I'll give you a voucher to get you onto any other workshop at a time of your choosing. It's also possible that I will need to cancel a workshop. If that happens I'll give you the choice of a refund or a voucher for another date. More on cancellations here.
Technical difficulties with booking in
I've got troubleshooting tips for you here and of course you're welcome to contact me.
Aftercare
Please sign up to my mailing list as I aim to send you more resources after the workshop, including my slides and an overview of the tools we discussed.

Evaโs soothing voice, precious words of wisdom and advice not only gave me an that immediate feeling of calm, but have empowered me . Her teachings have given me the knowledge to help myself as I care for my beautiful daughter. Evaโs workshop was concise which was perfect for me because I had overloaded myself with information and felt not only out of control, but petrified. Evaโs caring nature and compassion has made me feel less isolated and for that I am truly grateful.
Thank you Eva
